          "value": "Born in Adelaide in 1950 to Ukrainian émigré parents, Danko began making art as a teenager in his family’s garage. After studying at the South Australian School of Art he moved to Sydney in 1971, where he was a central figure in the city’s conceptual art movement. There the young artist began his art practice as he would continue: mining the complexities of lived experience and pricking the collective social conscience, using sculpture, performance and process as his means."
