This book deals with the life and work of the most colourful of "colonial artists" - William Buelow Gould (1803 - 1853). He arrived in Hobart Town in 1827 and for the next 24 years, until his death in 1853, painted mostly still life subjects; making him unique amongst the very few artists working in New South Wales and Van Diemen's Land at that time. -- from dust jacket.
