Over 6,000 years ago, a gigantic stellar explosion occurred in the southern constellation, Vela. The starburst was observed by the Sumerians of Mesopotamia and recorded by them on cuneiform tablets. George Michanowsky discovered one such clay tablet which provided the key to this millennia-spanning astronomical mystery. Recently astronomers have recorded a radio pulse emanating from the remnants of Vela X which conclusively establishes the existence of the supernova and at the same time fulfils the prophecy of the ancient observers. In the light of the author's further discoveries relating to the significance of the Egyptian 'ankh' he discusses the stunning implications of Vela X on Western religious symbolism, star lore, scientific evolution, the Atlantis riddle among many more revelations which link our civilisation with Sumerian culture form the distant past. -- Cover.
